Quantum Fleet Optimization with QAOA

A quantum computing project investigating QAOA for delivery vehicle fleet optimization.

01

The delivery planning problem

Delivery fleets face decisions about assigning work and organizing vehicle movement. The number of possible plans grows as vehicles and delivery points increase, making optimization an important part of logistics planning.

Risenine’s project investigates fleet optimization for delivery vehicles using the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm, or QAOA. It is presented as quantum optimization research, without a claim of a production logistics platform.

02

How QAOA fits optimization research

QAOA is a hybrid quantum-classical approach to combinatorial optimization. A problem is expressed in a form suitable for the algorithm, a parameterized quantum circuit is evaluated, and classical optimization adjusts its parameters.

The formulation matters: a useful fleet model must represent the chosen objective and constraints. Capacity, route length, and delivery timing are possible logistics requirements, but the exact constraints and objective implemented in this project have not been supplied publicly.

03

Compare against classical methods

A quantum optimization experiment should be assessed against appropriate classical methods on the same problem instances. Solution feasibility, objective value, total runtime, and scaling behavior help show where an approach is useful.

Small examples or simulated quantum circuits do not by themselves establish a quantum advantage. Hardware, simulator choice, problem size, and experiment settings are necessary context for interpreting a result.

04

An advanced research showcase

This project broadens Risenine’s portfolio into quantum computing and delivery optimization. It reflects an interest in emerging approaches to operational planning alongside the company’s applied AI services.

No quantum advantage, fuel saving, distance reduction, or hardware deployment is claimed on this page. The Quantum Valley Hackathon regional-round achievement is listed separately because the supplied information does not identify the winning project.
